Physical Demands and Exposures
Select Water Solutions requires all employees whose jobs may involve environmental compliance to understand and comply with the U.S. Environmental Protections Agency’s Clean Air Act that regulates air emissions from stationary and mobile sources. A copy of the Clean Air Act can be provided to you upon request from Human Resources.

Select Chemistry’s Chemical Trailer Washout Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently cleaning and decontaminating chemical transport trailers, tanks, and containers in compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
- Perform interior and exterior washouts of chemical trailers, ensuring all residual materials are removed.
- Use appropriate cleaning agents, high-pressure washers, and chemical-neutralizing solutions.
- Follow specific wash procedures based on the type of chemicals previously transported.
- Inspect trailers before and after cleaning to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
- Adhere to OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations for handling hazardous materials.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, respirators, and protective suits.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when working on trailers and equipment.
- Ensure proper ventilation and confined space entry protocols when working inside trailers.
- Properly dispose of wastewater and chemical residues following environmental regulations.
- Maintain records of chemical use, waste disposal, and washout procedures.
- Prevent chemical spills and ensure immediate cleanup of any hazardous materials.
- Operate high-pressure wash systems, pumps, and other cleaning equipment safely.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on wash bay equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate logs of completed washouts, including trailer numbers, chemicals cleaned, and cleaning methods used.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of cleaned trailers before release.
- Assist in preparing compliance reports as required.
- Work closely with dispatchers, drivers, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient scheduling of trailer washouts.
- Communicate any safety concerns, equipment issues, or delays to supervisors.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Keep the wash bay and surrounding areas clean and organized.
- Store cleaning chemicals properly and maintain an inventory of supplies.
- Follow all sanitation and workplace hygiene protocols.

- Experience in industrial cleaning, chemical handling, or related field is a plus.

- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
