We have an immediate need for a Piping Designer to join our team in Lakeland, FL. This role focuses on industrial plant projects, supporting engineers with mechanical and piping design tasks. The candidate will utilize AutoCAD and Plant 3D CAD to develop detailed piping layouts, 3D models, and associated drawings. The designer will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

We have an immediate need for a Piping Designer to join our team in Lakeland, FL. This role focuses on industrial plant projects, supporting engineers with mechanical and piping design tasks. The candidate will utilize AutoCAD and Plant 3D CAD to develop detailed piping layouts, 3D models, and associated drawings. The designer will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise detailed piping and mechanical system designs using AutoCAD and Plant 3D CAD.
- Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and isometric piping details.
- Generate 2D orthographic drawings from P&ID and 3D models.
- Conduct 3D scanning and point cloud generation for accurate model creation.
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings and piping isometrics.
- Compute and verify angles, weights, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, and leverage points.
- Utilize knowledge of various piping and mechanical systems, building materials, and engineering standards.
- Interface with engineers, construction teams, stress analysts, and suppliers to ensure design accuracy.
- Maintain organized file systems for all production drawings.
- Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry standards, including ASTM, ANSI, OSHA, UBC, API, and PIP.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in piping design for industrial applications.
- Proficiency in Plant 3D CAD (MUST HAVE).
- Strong experience in process flow diagram development and P&ID generation.
- Familiarity with 3D scanning and point cloud generation.
- Experience with chemical or petrochemical projects is highly preferred.
- Ability to generate 2D and isometric piping drawings from P&ID and 3D models.
- Strong mathematical skills for performing design calculations.
- Familiarity with engineering terminology, industry standards, and government regulations.

- Pay Rate: DOE ($45-$50/hr, potential for up to $75/hr for highly qualified candidates)
- Schedule: 9-hour days Monday-Thursday, half-day Fridays (Flexible start times; potential for 4-10’s schedule)
- Travel: Occasional (1-2 days for walk-downs during business hours)
