An employee-owned A&E firm in the Orlando area is seeking a Structural Engineer (PE) to join their team as a Design Team Lead. This is a full-time, permanent role focused primarily on single-family residential projects—with opportunities to contribute to light commercial work as well.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as design lead and certifying engineer on residential and commercial structural projects
- Perform structural analysis and design of wood/masonry structures and framing systems
- Oversee foundation design, including shallow/spread and deep foundations
- Develop structural calculations and detailed construction documents
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and consultants to ensure successful, on-time, and on-budget delivery
- Respond to RFIs, conduct job site and design reviews, and support construction activities
- Read and interpret engineering specs, drawings, and contracts
- Lead and mentor junior engineering staff, conduct QA reviews
- Foster positive relationships with project owners, superintendents, and vendors
- Active Florida PE license
- ~ 3–5 years of structural engineering experience with wood and masonry structures
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with RISA 3D
- Familiarity with Florida and International Building Codes
- Experience with metal plate connected wood trusses and engineered wood products
- Comfortable working with steel, wood, masonry, and concrete (up to three stories)
- Revit experience
- Experience in light commercial projects
- Previous experience in A&E firms, structural consultancies, or home builders
- Competitive base salary (~ $90K–$120K , based on experience)
