Selectemp is hiring a Communications Manager for a Food Share that collects and distributes food to a network of more than 100 partner agencies in Salem, Oregon. Support from the community makes it possible for the food share to distribute food to meal sites, food pantries, foster homes, low-income day care centers, shelters and senior housing sites across the Mid-Valley.

Summary of Role : The Communications Manager engages the community in the Food Share's mission through social media, website posts, media outreach, signage and printed materials.

As a Communications Manager, you will be responsible for :

Develops, implements and maintains effective strategies for engaging the

community through the Food Share's communication channels.

Utilizes multiple communications mediums to reach a diverse audience of service clients, donors and community partners.
Develops, implements and maintains social media strategy, including posting stories, interacting with followers, and tracking engagement statistics.
Creates written content highlighting donor impact and program information for print newsletters and websites.
Interviews clients, volunteers, community partners, and staff for stories and videos showcasing Food Share programs and partners.
Generates talking points, writes speeches and creates slide decks for major presentations and events.
Oversees three WordPress-based websites, regularly updates with new stories and photographs, and ensures service and resource information is up to date.
Works with contract web developer to troubleshoot issues, identifies and implements ways to improve website accessibility and ease of use and configures site architecture.

Generates compelling visuals and digital content to tell stories and inspire

community support.

Visually documents Food Share programs and services with an eye for personal storytelling, maintaining a consistently bold and vibrant brand style.

Edits and archives photos, maintains photography library and oversees distribution and use of digital assets.

Manages all aspects of contract video production for large-scope projects, including hiring videographers, scripting, scheduling, coaching interview subjects and overseeing editing.

Shoots and edits smaller video projects that can be completed in-house.

Designs and manages production of print and marketing collateral.

Creates or commissions design and production of signage, flyers, brochures, posters, advertisements, business cards, promotional items, building signage and fleet vehicle graphics.

Ensures consistency of branding in print and electronic materials.

Oversees and monitors adherence to brand guidelines to ensure proper use of logos, fonts and colors.

Maintains a focus on accessibility and equity in all print and electronic materials.

Leads development of external and internal communications materials.

Communicates with Food Share staff in all departments to understand communications needs, gather information, and report on progress.

Composes sensitive and thoughtful public statements conveying organizational values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice, including cultural recognition events and bias incident responses.

Reviews communications materials created by other staff members; assists with writing, copy editing, proofreading, and design.

Gathers statistics for Food Share programs and services for use in various reports and presentations.

Manages media outreach and relations

Fields requests from reporters, schedules interviews with leadership staff, prepares talking points, serves as spokesperson as needed.

Fosters productive working relationships with journalists and local

and regional media outlets.

Writes press releases to generate media coverage of the Food Share and its partner agencies.

Delivers timely responses and updates to media when the Food Share is engaged in emergency responses to crises including wildfires, ice storms and heat waves.

Maintains an archive of published media coverage, composes weekly organizational updates for local radio partners and writes public service announcements for broadcast outlets.

The ideal candidate for this role will have :

3-5 years of work experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations

Experience with social media and website communication

WordPress experience preferred

Valid driver's license required

Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check, including driving record check for last 3 years
