Overview

Selective Insurance is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering responsible delivering software solutions and information systems to solve Billing business and customer needs. This individual will oversee a team consisting of software engineers and leads responsible for supporting applications that are of strategic importance to the corporation. The primary responsibility of this team is to ensure solutions are aligned to business strategies, and to provide technical leadership and implementation support to application delivery teams for new projects and enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of business application projects for the Billing business.
  • Meet with other managers (IT and business) to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with business and IT counterparts to ensure proper collaboration
  • Accountable for project scope, schedule, and budget ensuring commitments and progress are monitored closely and communicated clearly
  • Forecasting and allocation of team members across several development projects
  • Regular reporting of key metrics like resource allocation, software defects, productivity, and efficiency
  • Trains, supervises, assigns projects to, evaluates, and is responsible for hiring/termination of information technology personnel and contracting staff to design, engineer, and implement systems software
  • Talent management of team members to ensure high morale and appropriate advancement of individual goals and career aspirations
  • Participate in the evaluation, acquisition, and implementation of vendor software to support business processes
  • Troubleshoot technology issues
  • Participation in and well-planned implementation of established quality improvement initiatives and processes
  • In conjunction with the architecture group
  • Establish and enforce design and coding standards
  • Evaluate and recommend application development tools

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Experience with the Majesco P&C Core Suite Billing SaaS solution
  • Possesses strong knowledge and practical application of Agile methodologies
  • Prior experience with the Product Operating Model
  • Prior management/supervisory experience with information technology personnel and offshore/onsite consults preferred
  • Prior hands-on application development experience using web based technologies and languages is preferred
  • Solid knowledge of surrounding technologies including design patterns and modern standards
  • Great leadership skills to work effectively with peers within and across organizations
  • Solid written and interpersonal communication with the ability to deliver compelling presentations
  • Strong ability to manage and execute on multiple project timelines and manage competing priorities
  • College degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or related field preferred
  • Experience in Property Casualty insurance a plus

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.

Pay Range

USD $131,600.00 - USD $188,000.00 /Yr.

Salary : $131,600 - $188,000
