JOB TITLE: Quality Manager
DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide technical and cultural leadership for the Quality Management System, ensuring processes and systems are in place to generate continuous improvement of the corporation and ensure customer satisfaction within the ISO 9001 framework.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide training and focus to ensure systems and procedures are in place to guide and measure company performance, ensuring ultimate customer satisfaction.
- Develop, install, and monitor effective use of SPC, corrective action and related performance measurement and feedback tools and techniques for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as internal audit program administrator.
- Conduct process capability analyses for all key manufacturing operations and determines appropriate control strategies.
- Accumulate, interpret and publish data from the quality assurance system to provide conclusions on testing, communicate trends to engineering and management, develop corrective action programs and provide data to customers.
- Train and audit suppliers as needed.
- Educate, inspire, and critique company leadership to generate continuous improvement.
- Interface with all parts of the organization and its customers to ensure comprehensive knowledge and adherence to customer requirements.
- Provide management direction to QA Audit Team.
- Support manufacturing teams as needed.
- Disposition material on Quality Hold
- Make customer and supplier site visits as needed when there is a quality issue which requires a face-to-face meeting.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline with in-depth understanding of statistics.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- 5-10 years in Quality Assurance function with in-depth understanding of Quality concepts.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS-SKILLS, TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT USED:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, Word, and Access).
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Written and Verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization and with customers and suppliers are critical.
- Utilize statistical computer software such as Excel, SPC, Minitab.
- One or more of the following is preferred
o Automotive or Aerospace background.
o Familiarity with Ceramics and/or molten metal processing.
o CQE, CQM, Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification
