Job Summary
The Personal Support Staff plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to client in their daily activities, ensuring their needs are met. The Personal Support Staff will work closely with a team to implement care plans and foster a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and community integration.
Client is a 34 yr old female diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She is fully dependent on her caregivers and is non-verbal but can understand Spanish and English. We are ideally looking for a candidate who can speak Spanish fluently as the parent speaks Spanish the most. The candidate should have AT LEAST 4 or more years of experience working with special needs, but if you have a family member with special needs, we will consider 2 years of experience with an associates degree. Candidate MUST have an associates degree or higher. Candidate must have reliable transportation to get to the clients home, bus/uber are not considered reliable. Candidate MUST be comfortable giving client a bath in a special bath chair and brushing teeth. Candidate MUST also be comfortable lifting 97lbs if hoyer lift malfunctions.
Also to mention:
- Strong understanding of patient care principles and resident rights, HIPAA.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy are essential for success in this role.
- Candidate MUST have experience with AAC devices.
- MUST pass a background check
- MUST have CPR, First Aid training (in person, online will no longer be accepted).
- CMT but not required.
Duties
- Assist client with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs.
- Support client in developing social skills and engaging in community activities.
- Ensure a respectful environment at all times.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in health status.
- Provide first aid and emergency assistance as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of client.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to coordinate care services.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in direct support and patient care.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
