THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Talent Acquisition Manager will be the driving force behind Self-Help’s talent acquisition strategy, ensuring the hiring process reflects Self-Help’s values and culture, and that regions have the recruiting and sourcing capability to build high-performing teams in service to our mission. This role reports directly to the Director of Talent Management, collaborates closely with Regional HR Managers and Recruiters, and partners with leaders across the organization.
Acting as a true talent acquisition advisor, you’ll turn hiring managers into true recruiting partners, contribute to employer branding initiatives that shape Self-Help’s employee value proposition, and provide coaching and tactical support that develop forward-thinking talent pipelines while solving immediate hiring challenges. You will be key in streamlining and strengthening the day-to-day operations of the talent acquisition function, refining processes to balance efficiency with exceptional candidate experiences.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Strategic Leadership
- Drive the development of effective and innovative recruitment strategies to attract diverse, top-tier talent across various functions and regions, while ensuring our hiring practices reflect our commitment to equity and inclusion
- Establish partnerships with HR and organizational leaders to understand workplace and hiring needs, forecast talent demands, and provide consultative talent acquisition support
- Mentor and coach a team of three recruiters, fostering their skill development and ensuring they achieve hiring goals
- In coordination with Self-Helps COO and HR Generalist, ensure that SH’s job postings and hiring practices comply with federal and state regulations
Hands-On Recruiting
- Run executive recruiting for niche roles, up to 2 searches at a time, including liaising with external search partners
- Manage job fairs and organize community outreach activities to strengthen awareness and employer brand in the community
- Provide support and coverage of recruitment tasks, conducting phone screens, adding sourcing or candidate scheduling capacity as needed; serve as a point of escalation for team members during all stages of the recruitment process
Internship Program Management
- Oversee the development, implementation, and success of a 10-week summer internship program across geographies
- Partner with Regional HR Managers and Recruiters to attract 20-40 interns, as well as deliver onsite programming, from onboarding to offboarding
Performance Optimization
- Optimize recruitment platforms and tools to balance efficiency, compliance, and exceptional candidate experiences
- Track and analyze recruiting metrics, using data to drive TA process improvement, tell meaningful stories about recruitment performance, and ensure the team meets hiring goals
- Manage recruitment budget effectively, ensuring the best investment of resources
Employer Brand Initiatives
- Support internal mobility and career development through employee spotlights and broad career education, and coaching internal candidates
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to showcase Self-Help as an employer of choice, including campaigns, social media content, and participation in events
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 6 years in Talent Acquisition, including experience in full-cycle recruiting
- Proven success in designing, managing, and executing successful recruiting programs (e.g., on-campus recruitment, referral programs, talent community management)
- Adept at maximizing HR technologies to enable scalability and streamline recruiting, performance tracking, and feedback collection
- Well-versed in candidate sourcing using various channels, including social media, job boards, and networking
- Proficient at navigating HR info systems and applicant tracking systems (e.g., WorkDay)
- Working knowledge of state and federal employment regulations
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring
- Bachelors in human resources or related field, or equivalent related experience

WORK ARRANGEMENTS
The Talent Acquisition Manager is a hybrid role, based out of Durham, NC, or Chicago, IL. Staff are expected to be in the office three days per week, with Monday and Wednesday as communal days and the third day determined by each individual. Occasional travel and evening hours will be required for recruitment events and attendance at team retreats.

COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY & BENEFITS
Self-Help believes that wealth inequality undermines the security and strength of families, communities, and the US economy. For that reason, we maintain a minimum salary floor well above the federal minimum wage for our staff, to help them meet their basic needs and save for the future. We also cap salaries at the higher end of our compensation scale, where many staff, including the CEO and other senior leaders, earn the same salary, subject only to geographic adjustments.
Salary
- Durham, NC: $95,162 - $117,058
- Chicago, IL: $106,600 - $131,257
Compensation ranges are based on local market rates and will be determined by geography, role, and experience. The higher end of each range represents the current organizational salary cap for each location, which increases annually based on cost of living and organizational performance.

- Medical, dental & vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents, with 80% to 100% of premiums paid by CRL depending on coverage levels selected
