Job Description

Sellers & Associates, LLC (S&A) is seeking a Legislative Analyst to work at our client's site in Washington, DC (Navy Yard).

The successful candidate will play a critical role in advising senior leaders on defense policy and appropriation matters and track funding and language impacts on Navy programs and policies. and act as the SME for defense policy and appropriation matters. You will have ability to produce written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence 

Responsibilities:

• Advise senior leaders on defense policy and appropriation matters and track funding and language impacts on Navy programs and policies.
• Provide subject matter expertise for defense policy and appropriation matters.
• Produce written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence  
• Ability to produce written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence 
• Develop tracking mechanisms to identify and document funding and language impacts to Navy programs.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

• Active Secret Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Political Science
• 4 years’ experience analyzing and writing on federal congressional actions.
• Ability to review and analyze defense legislation for potential impacts to Navy programs and initiatives.
• Strong understanding of the enactment process for defense authorization and appropriation legislation
• Ability to produce briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence.
• Working knowledge of the Navy’s PPBE process
• Familiarity with NAVSEA programs and initiatives
