In this role, you will work closely with our GM of Live Journalism and Client Services Manager for Live Journalism on high-profile global and national events, including signature summits, single topic forums, newsmaker interviews, thought leader roundtables, receptions, and pop-up exchanges. You will use entrepreneurial thinking to bring our portfolio of newsworthy and impactful events to life.

In this role, you will work closely with our GM of Live Journalism and Client Services Manager for Live Journalism on high-profile global and national events, including signature summits, single topic forums, newsmaker interviews, thought leader roundtables, receptions, and pop-up exchanges. You will use entrepreneurial thinking to bring our portfolio of newsworthy and impactful events to life.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end project and account manage Semafor's marquee events, playing a key leadership role on other major programs
- Develop and manage event budgets, timelines, and project plans for marquee events
- Provide regular updates and reports to clients and internal stakeholders on event planning progress and budget management
- Liaise with our Creative Director to maximize onsite event space with creative input on event design, AV, production, stage design, decor, florals, F&B, and more
- Coordinate logistics for offsite events, including venue selection, transportation, catering, audiovisual equipment, and decor
- Manage event staff and volunteers, ensuring everyone understands their roles and responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and manage necessary permits and insurance requirements
- Manage key vendor relationships and deliverables throughout the event planning process
- Recommend new and emerging offsite venues for various event types in select cities
- Provide logistical support on load-in and event days
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 8 years of experience in meeting/event planning
- 4 years in partner account management
- Strong professional meeting planning skills
- Experience working alongside clients to deliver a premium partner experience
- Impressive rolodex of DC-based vendors
- General knowledge of the Washington, DC events landscape and venues
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial approach to work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Keynote/Powerpoint, Excel, G-Suite
- Clear experience designing and executing event strategies that drive high-impact outcomes
- An entrepreneurial drive grounded in an eagerness to learn and grow alongside the company
- CMP, DES certifications a plus
- Experience show calling and stage managing a plus
- Passion for the media industry and great journalism; experience in media a plus
