What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Treatment Plant Operator - TRAINEE position at Seminole County/Board of County Commissioners?
This is a trainee level position, under immediate supervision that performs technical activities in the operation and maintenance of the County's water treatment plants; trainee is required to obtain a State of Florida "C" Level Water Treatment Plant Operator License within 15-months of hire.
**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Participates in an on-the-job training program involving practical "hands-on" experience with plant operations under the supervision of a Certified Treatment Plant Operator or the Water Plant supervisor; the trainee will be required to read and comprehend a variety of technical laboratory, operations, and maintenance procedures. Performs entry level work in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant. Examples of work performed includes the following:
Performing daily chemical analyses, in accordance with state mandated requirements and federal guidelines, for pH, fluoride, chlorine, color, turbidity, temperature, ozone, GAC (Granulated Activated Carbon), Ion-Exchange, chlorides, and other daily operational procedures, laboratory and field analyses, and routine calibrations and maintenance for optimal treatment process.
Participate in assigned treatment plant rounds including inspecting, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance testing and documenting plant processes by reading plant equipment gauges, dials, graphs, online analyzers, computer screens, meters, SCADA systems and other instrumentation.
Assists with the maintenance and cleaning of plant equipment, some ground maintenance, and maybe cross trained in basic pump and motor maintenance.
Maybe asked to work varying shifts, hours, and locations to become trained in all aspects of water plant operations.
Adheres to proper safety standards and procedures.
Performs related work and additional duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid State of Florida driver license.
Must be able to obtain a Class "C" Water Treatment Plant Operator's license within 15-months of hire as issued by the State of Florida in compliance with Chapter 62-602 of the Florida Administrative Code and al revision thereof.
Must be able to communicate clearly orally and in writing and present oneself in a professional manner.
Must have the ability to follow and take oral and written instructions.
Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, SCADA software and GIS software experience is a plus and has the ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
Ability for attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
Must have the ability to perform or lean basic mathematical equations in the performance of analysis and calculation of dosage.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical information, directives, manuals, memos, reports, and other work related materials.
Ability to write analysis sheets, reports, inventories, logbooks, work orders, and other work requests.A
Must be available to work any hours or days as may be assigned.
Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and pressure of a fast paced work environment.
