Description
Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to perform highly technical and specialized skilled work involving the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of gasoline or diesel driven heavy equipment, machinery and tools. Employee functions at senior level to perform complex work with independence, and more difficult work under the guidance and supervision of the Quality Assurance Inspector.
- Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Essential Functions

Performs diagnostic tests on failed and / or broken down vehicles and heavy equipment to determine appropriate repairs and / or maintenance.
Performs complex preventive maintenance, overhaul and repair services of on heavy trucks, and off road equipment, mechanical equipment and other gasoline and diesel driven motors; performs or assists with highly complex repairs.
Performs a wide variety of skilled mechanical work, repairing, servicing and adjusting engine and various related parts, e.g., hydraulic controls, air compressors, pumps and related equipment, fuel and exhaust systems, ignitions systems, electrical and brake components, transmissions, as well as replaces or repairs clutches on manual transmissions, internal and external engine parts.
May be required to perform emergency road service to vehicles and equipment outside of the garage.
Ability to repair and weld using oxy-acetylene and electrical welding, safely operates a wide variety of hand and power driver tools and equipment, e.g., grinders, fender hammers, sanders, drill presses, lathes, testing and welding equipment.
Road tests the operation of various equipment, light and heavy trucks, mechanical equipment and other gasoline and diesel driven motors, e.g., service trucks, forklifts, back hoe, fire trucks, dump trucks, etc.
Additional Duties :
Performs duties as assigned / necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma and / or GED.
Certificates of Training and / or current ASE certification in the areas listed below.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class-A Florida Commercial Driver's License or have the ability to obtain with six (6) months of hire.
Seven (7) years' experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel driven motors and heavy equipment, machinery and tools; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Requirements
Thorough knowledge of the assembly, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heavy and special gasoline and diesel driven equipment, e.g., construction, light and heavy trucks, mechanical equipment.
Physical demand requirements are in excess of medium work. Physical agility is required in climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and crawling. Physical Demand : Heavy
100 pounds maximum lifting.
Frequent (up to 1 / 3 of the work time) lifting, carrying up to 50 lbs.
This position is required to participate in On-Call rotation and may be required to work after normal business hours according to applicable County policy i.e. : Call Out or Emergency-Disaster.
All employees must attend Seminole County required training. Department specific training per position may be required.
