**THE SEMINOLE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS OFFERING A $15,000 HIRING INCENTIVE FOR CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WITH AT LEAST 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE**
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of DEPUTY SHERIFF EXPERIENCED FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE DEPUTY.
To be eligible for the hiring incentive, applicants must have four (4) years of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer.The hiring incentive of $15,000 will be broken down as follows:
$5,000 - First paycheck
$4,000 - After 1 year of employment
$3,000 - After 2 years of employment
$2,000 - After 3 years of employment
$1,000 - After 4 years of employment
Applicants eligible for the hiring incentive who successfully gain employment with SCSO as a Deputy Sheriff will be required to sign an employment agreement committing them to maintaining employment with SCSO for one (1) year. If the employment agreement is broken, the employee will be required to reimburse SCSO the first $15,000 hiring incentive payment of $5,000.
The Deputy Sheriff assigned to School Safety (School Resources Deputy-SRD) involves providing law enforcement and other community and educational support services to the Seminole County Schools and the surrounding community. This role provides opportunities for personal and professional development, enhancing skills in communication, conflict resolution and crisis management. SRDs receive additional enhanced training including but not limited to tactical, single response active threat training, hands on experience with emerging school technologies and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of training opportunities and enrichment.

REFERENCE DEPUTY SHERIFF VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Interface with students during class presentations, class breaks, meal periods, before, and after school.
- Being the first line of defense at your school campus, protecting our most vulnerable citizens
- Being an active member of the campus Emergency Response Team by assisting with conducting emergency drills and training staff
- Engaging with students and staff during, class breaks, meal periods, before, and after school
- Participating as a member of the school threat management team to evaluate students of concern
- Becoming a valued member of your school community by participating in school meetings and events. to facilitate better community relations
- Conducting a variety of investigations that arise during the school day in collaboration with other investigative units as needed
- Identifying and resolving problems on your school campus; develop strategies, programs, and crime prevention methods that reduce crime and the fear of crime
- Facilitate interest and involvement in a variety of endeavors intended to enhance the educational experience
- Performing other duties as assigned or as may be necessary in the efficient and effective performance of the position functions
- Assignments range from elementary, middle and high schools as well as middle school float and Seminole State College positions
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be a United States citizen
- Must have a High School Diploma/GED
- Must possess or obtain a State of Florida Certificate of Completion and/or Certification of Compliance.
- Must have successfully completed the Law Enforcement (SNP) Field Training Program
- Upon selection must successfully complete a two-week field training program, the FDLE approved School Resource program and Instructor Techniques training course, as well as any other training identified by the School Safety Director and contractual/statutory obligations
- Must pass a physical examination with drug screening by a licensed physician
- Must pass a psychological examination by a license psychologist or psychiatrist
- Must submit to a background investigation in accordance with FDLE standards
- Must not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
- All applicants will be required to take a Physical Abilities Test (P.A.T.), Civil Service written examination, and Firearms qualification. Applicants must score at least 70% on the Civil Service examination in each of the four (4) sections (math, reading comprehension, grammar, and report writing) and must pass the firearms qualification test with a score of 33 out of 38 or better
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of various instruction techniques and use of audiovisual equipment used in presentations
- Ability to develop and articulate various public relations programs in the school environment
Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include schedules work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and call for service during times of an emergency.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment for this position is in a Sheriff's Office marked emergency vehicle. The incumbent drives a vehicle and extensive walking is required when not in the vehicle.
