DESCRIPTION:
The Associate Vice President, Academic Services provides strategic vision and leadership for the development, coordination and evaluation of comprehensive academic support programs on all campuses. Serves as the lead administrator for the college’s First Year Experience program and supervises leadership of all Academic Services Departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans, develops and oversees the departments and operational processes of Academic Scheduling, Academic Success Center and Star lab, Course and Curriculum Development, College-wide Articulation Agreements with state, national and international institutions, College Libraries, eLearning, the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning and the First Year Experience program.
2. Provides leadership, and overall coordination of the college’s First year Experience program. Oversees the design, delivery and evaluation of the IDS 1107 Flightpath curriculum, develops a comprehensive schedule of classes to meet student demand, and recruits and trains IDS faculty.
3. Assists the VP of Academic Affairs and the divisional leadership team in development, delivery, and improvement of academic services that support student learning.
4. Provides strategic leadership in planning, budgeting, and program review of academic support services on all campuses.
5. Develops and coordinates significant strategic initiatives for Academic Affairs and coordinates with other areas of the college to ensure effective and efficient implementation.
6. Serves on the Academic Leadership Team with the Academic Vice President and works closely with the Academic Associate Vice Presidents, Academic Deans, and Campus Dean.
7. Develops and refines the Divisional planning process and assessment.
8. Develops, revises and updates academic policies and procedures.
9. Serves as the College’s Baccalaureate Liaison with the Florida College System and coordinates the submission of the annual Florida College System Baccalaureate Accountability reports for each baccalaureate program.
10. Serves as a member of the Labor Management Planning Team, the Labor Management Team, and the Collective Bargaining Team. Collects and analyzes data for initiatives required in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Vice President of Academic Affairs and for Labor Management Team.
11. Serves as the Academic Affairs lead for the online student pathways platform (EAB Navigate360). Works collaboratively with campus partners to provide project management and operational leadership for the ongoing implementation and utilization of the student pathways software.
12. Serves as co-chair of the Speaker Series Committee and coordinates the budget and operational processes for the College Speaker Series.
13. Assists in the preparation and submission of state and federal reports, and any required accreditation compliance reports pertaining to academic affairs,
14. Collaborates with the College’s accreditation liaison to ensure compliance and adherence to standards.
15. Recommends staffing plans, implements selection processes for staff hiring, provides feedback, and conducts performance evaluations in a timely, effective manner that is consistent with the College’s strategic plan for performance management.
16. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in academic affairs.
3. Six (6) years of supervisory or management experience in a post-secondary environment.
4. One (1) year of experience in Collective Bargaining in a post-secondary environment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Doctorate from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
2. Experience in curriculum development and enrollment management. Understanding of Florida’s curriculum frameworks, state course numbering system, and community or state college baccalaureate degree design.
3. Experience working in systems management or with collegiate operating system.
4. Teaching experience at the college/university level.
5. Experience leading teams, task forces and committees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
1. Demonstrated ability in analyzing and re-engineering operations and procedures and in developing and implementing new ones.
2. Knowledge in class scheduling, room management, course catalog development, faculty workload, and coordination of academic support services.
3. Knowledge of computer-based systems applications and college enterprise systems, and the interworking of PeopleSoft and EAB Navigate technology systems.
4. Ability to consult with, challenge, and influence management to align processes and practices with college objectives.
5. Ability to plan, organize, direct, and supervise a wide variety of activities concurrently.
