The Ahfachkee School is part of the Seminole Tribe of Florida has about 200 students between all the K-12 grade levels so we offer small class sizes, traditional culture preservation, and plenty of resources! We follow Florida standards for the curriculum however we fall under the Bureau of Indian Education so we're not part of the county. Note the school is located on the Big Cypress Reservation at 31055 Josie Billie Highway, Clewiston, FL 33440. This is not in the main city of Clewiston, rather 45 minute drive south. It is about a 45 minute drive east of Immokalee. Coming from Weston it would be about a 55 minute drive to the west on I-75. We do provide a fuel stipend if you live more than 40 miles away.
Position Summary
The incumbent in this position performs duties as an instructional team member and acts in an advisory role to students. The incumbent plans, organizes and provides learning experiences for Ahfachkee School students, including providing each student with the knowledge and skills to be successful students. This position is classified as a Professional-52; which requires a 42 week work period (approximately 10 months) paid across a 52 week (12 month) pay cycle.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s or advanced degree is required. A major in Elementary Education is preferred. Must possess or have the ability to secure a Professional level Florida teaching certificate in Elementary K-6. Must meet the requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher as defined by “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) for the position. Possession of a Gifted Certification/Endorsement is highly preferred. Demonstrate the ability to appropriately communicate clearly with parents and children is required. Ability to work a schedule that includes school events held on evenings, weekends and holidays.
