Primarily we need assistance with algebra and geometry. Knowledge in other subjects is a plus, including tutoring adult learners with GED prep. The part-time schedule is based as-needed with requests for one-on-one tutoring. We're looking for flexible hours, including afterschool/evenings and weekends. The Education department is located on the Brighton Reservation at 650 Harney Pond Rd., Suite 110, Okeechobee, FL 34974 however some tutoring sessions may be at students' homes both on Reservation and off-site like in Okeechobee.
Position Summary
The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing academic tutoring services to the Seminole Tribe of Florida community students and youth. The individual assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. The incumbent plans, creates and implements tutorial programs that guide and assist students with homework, problem solving, report writing, and test preparation.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required. A minimum of one (1) year of experience working as Tutor, Instructional Aide or similar position is required. Thorough knowledge on the academic subject to be imparted is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
