The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects. The estimator role will collaborate with project managers, jobsite foreman, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure that project bids are competitive, comprehensive, and aligned with client requirements.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of estimating experience
- Ability to document, organize, understand, and interpret complex streams of information and paperwork including plans, specifications, addendas, RFI’s and other data common to the heavy/civil construction industry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using B2W software is a plus
- Experience using Procore and other bidding platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Capable of managing multiple, unique assignments simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals in response to RFPs and RFQs
- Maintain relationships with vendors for quoting and bidding purposes
- Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing with suppliers, subcontractors, and other service providers
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and relevant documentation
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work
- Conduct site visits to gather essential information and assess potential challenges
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Perform take-off's for site utilities, earthwork, site amenities, paving etc.
- Utilize Top Tier softwares (B2W Estimate, AGTEK, Planswift)
- Clearly communicate with architects, designers, and co-workers regarding changes, scheduling, permits, and anticipate foreseeable/potential problems
- Buy-out of projects once awarded
