The Physical Therapist's primary responsibility is to perform physical evaluations and therapeutic treatments for physician-referred patients with disease or disability and provide direction to physical therapy assistants, students, and technicians to ensure quality treatment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluates, plans, supervises, delegates, and administers physical therapy treatment plans to meet patient goals
- Modifies patient treatments to reflect changes in goals and objectives when needed
- Administers treatment programs to patients including, but not limited to, therapeutic exercises, isokinetic testing and training, gait training, therapeutic application of physical agents such as heat, cold, electricity, ultrasound, massage; manual therapeutic techniques, and functional training
- Performs appropriate, timely documentation of patient care in accordance with department policy and procedures including recording patient’s reactions and progress during treatment and writing discharge summary when treatment is terminated
- Communicates with physicians or other health personnel when indicated
- Instructs and provides technical direction to physical therapist assistants and technicians assisting in patient care activities
- Participates in clinical studies and guidance of physical therapy students
- Counsels with patients and/or family as needed
- Establishes home programs for patients and instructs patient and family in the performance of exercises as indicated
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Physical Therapy Director and Senior Physical Therapists
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of Physical Therapy program from an accredited school
- Active Physical Therapy license for the state of Tennessee/Mississippi
- Active CPR Certification
Preferred:
- Experience treating patients with advanced spinal problems
