From California to Texas to Mexico and to communities around the world, we’re building a better energy future for everyone.Primary PurposeDevelops and maintains strong working relationships with key government and regulatory officials, advocates for Sempra's positions, and ensures alignment with company policies and objectives. This includes tracking regulatory activities, coordinating with internal teams on regulatory strategies, prioritizing regulatory efforts, and representing the company in industry trade associations.Duties And ResponsibilitiesMaintains good working relations with relevant non-governmental organizations and government officials and staff, including Administration, Departmental, and Congressional.Advocates Sempra’s positions with key government contacts, including those at relevant federal agencies.Tracks and gathers intelligence on the activities and direction of Congress and the regulatory agencies.Monitors activities of federal agencies to ensure consistency with Sempra’s policies and objectives.Coordinates with Corporate and Operating Company teams to develop viewpoints on policy and regulatory matters, as well as strategies to be pursued at the federal level.Helps to prioritize Sempra’s regulatory efforts and activities before relevant federal agencies.Provides information and advice to Corporate and Operating Company leadership and subject matter experts.Responsible for representing Company interests within various industry trade associations.Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).QualificationsEducationA bachelor's degree in legal, business, social policy, public relations, politics, related field, or equivalent experience is required.Experience5 years of experience in Federal government, public agencies, lobbying, or related experience is required.3 years of experience in energy / utilities regulatory-related work experience or experience that correlates with Sempra’s service territory and government and non-government stakeholders is preferred.Skills And AbilitiesPreferred candidates will have knowledge of Sempra’s service territory and asset footprint.The Following Skills And Abilities Are RequiredAbility to develop relationships and connections with a broad variety of Sempra stakeholders.Knowledge of federal regulations impacting the energy industry and proposed federal or regional regulations.Persuasive oral communications skills necessary for dealing with a wide range of internal and external audiences.Possesses strong ability to communicate (written and verbal) complex technical concepts in business terms.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and varied demands, as well as the ability to think strategically.Capable of anticipating and considering the needs, concerns, and input of various internal and external stakeholders.Strong presentation skills for formal and informal presentations to Senior Management.Area of InterestOtherTotal Rewards PhilosophyNote : Sempra strives to ensure that employees are paid equitably and competitively.
