Primary Purpose
This position leads Sempra Energy's 5 Year Planning process, which includes the modeling, consolidation, and analysis of Sempra's corporate wide long-range plan that will be used for strategic decision making and goal setting and is also provided to outside parties such as Rating Agencies and Bankers. Additionally, this position acts as an advisor to senior management (CFO, Controller, Treasurer and other VPs) for business issues impacting corporate financial performance. Position provides direction to Senior Analysts and Analysts within the department.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads the execution of functional processes to ensure Senior Management’s vision of Sempra’s 5 Year Plan. Analyzes Sempra's one-year, five-year and 10-year financial plans.
- Applies financial knowledge to review for sound presentation of numbers and reasonableness.
- Assists business units with development of their outlooks and plans. Coordinates the timing and development of Sempra’s 5 Year Planning calendar.
- Partners with Treasury and Tax groups to ensure proper financing and tax treatment.
- Oversees the consolidation of the corporate wide financial plan.
- Applies conceptual and theoretical accounting concepts to conducts advanced financial data modeling. Researches, understands and plans for hybrid financial instruments. Performs ad hoc analysis of optimal capital structures, financing decisions, and other opportunities.
- Develops and maintains schedules to track actual and forecasted earnings, as well as the status of key issues.
- Performs complex analysis to prepare and deliver various reports.
- Develops an advanced understanding of key issues through research and ensures effective communication within the department.
- Develops presentations for Senior Management and the Sempra Board of Directors that convey Sempra’s strategic direction.
- Functions as the source for answers to Senior Management questions regarding underlying assumptions and detailed data.
- Works hand in hand with Senior Management to develop company-wide earnings targets and near-term incentive compensation targets.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Education
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent is required.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- 8 years of relevant experience, preferably with a Fortune 500 Company with multiple business units is required.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
- Professional certification (CFA, CPA, CMA, Etc) is preferred.
