Overview
The contractor-Certified Diagnostician
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Diagnostician to join our team. The certified diagnostician will provide all necessary and/or professionally qualified diagnostic services, supplies, equipment, and testing materials to perform the work described below. Evaluations will occur at the above BIE school. The contractor will be required to perform psycho-educational evaluations for all referrals during the contract period.
Experience, Education, and Licensure/Certification
- Current New Mexico Level Three Pre K-8 Educational Diagnostician Licensure
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working with school-age children, staff, parents/guardians, native population (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Complete evaluation and assessment according to laws regarding minority non-discriminatory practices.
- The contractor will complete student evaluations based on guidelines, standards, and criteria identified by the State of New Mexico.
- The contractor (certified diagnostician) must be available to perform the services specified herein during the school year. Evaluations may not be done on weekends (Saturdays/Sundays), federal holidays, or tribal cultural days. These considerations are to be applied to the completion of all referrals.
- Upon completion of each student evaluation, a written summary of the findings and tentative recommendation will be left with the school's special education coordinator or designee, for filing into the student’s confidential folder until receipt of the complete evaluation report.
- The contractor (certified diagnostician) will provide reports within two weeks of the examination date. The reports are to be hand-delivered or mailed with the original protocols to each individual school as appropriate. All such reports should be clearly labeled or marked “CONFIDENTIAL”.
- SAT staff members will be expected to comply with requests for the completion for the necessary referral data, or whatever other scale or devices are requested by the contractor in the interest of providing that information necessary for the completion of the most appropriate evaluation in terms of the laws regarding minority non-discriminatory practices as outlined in this contract proposal. The contractor will be paid for psycho-educational reports – not based on services leading to their completion or upon receipt of completed evaluation reports – but within guidelines contained in this proposal.
- Regarding parent interpretations and MDT meetings the contractor will be expected to meet with parents and teachers of those students evaluated. The contractor will explain parental rights, and test results, help the committee determine placement and offer recommendations to fit the student’s needs in the classroom.
- At least one training for staff members will be provided by the contractor on the referral process, explanation of the importance of a complete interpretation of test scores, implementation of recommendations in the classrooms and proper placement of students for services.

Pay: $28.48 - $34.30 per hour
