Duties Description New York State Senator Pamela Helming is seeking a part-time, creative Communications Strategist with excellent and versatile writing and editing skills in her District Office located in Canandaigua, NY. This position has a high degree of flexibility. The essential responsibilities in this dynamic role include: •Assisting in overall communications strategy, including the development of messaging priorities •Writing opinion editorials, press releases, statements and speeches• Cultivating positive constituent stories• Developing and executing communications plans and special projects• Producing content for various social media platforms and print and online news outlets•Briefing the Senator and team on current issues of district, statewide and national importance•Collaborating with District Office and Albany Office team members
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications •Experience with messaging considering a variety of issues and viewpoints•At least five years of demonstrated experience working on a communications team, preferably in a government setting•A bachelor's degree in communication, English, public policy, public administration, political science or other relevant field of study is preferred•Familiarity with the Finger Lakes region
