Additional qualifications:
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education;
- Knowledge of Legislative Processes: Familiarity with legislative procedures, including committee operations, bill drafting, and voting processes;
- Strong Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough research, analyze complex information, and provide concise summaries and recommendations;
- Excellent Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and professionally;

Duties Description
The responsibilities in this dynamic role include:
- Committee Vote Recommendations: Analyze and evaluate proposed legislation, providing informed recommendations to assigned members based on their policy positions and constituents' interests;
- District-Specific Data Compilation: Gather and organize district-specific data, focusing on budget-specific items and other relevant information;Legislative Research: Conduct in-depth research on legislative issues, tracking current and proposed bills, analyzing their potential impact, and providing concise summaries and recommendations to members;
- Bill Drafting: Assist in the development and drafting of bills, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to legislative requirements and guidelines;
- Liaison Duties: Serve as the primary point of contact between assigned members and the majority leadership, facilitating effective communication, coordinating meetings, and relaying information promptly and accurately.
Additional Comments
This is a full-time position based in the Senate Majority Intergovernmental Affairs office located in the Alfred E. Smith Building, in Albany, New York. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, conferences, or other relevant events.
The salary is $63,000-65,000 annually.
