- Possession of a license to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- Current CPR certification
- Emergency Room /Urgent Care experience
- Demonstrated ability to quickly assess, evaluate and treat emergencies in an appropriate manner
- Demonstrated ability to handle patient in a calm and compassionate manner
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing at all levels within the legislature: patients, outside agencies, and other medical personnel
- Management experience preferred
Educational requirements:
- High School or equivalent
- Nursing – 4 years
- Acute Care – 3 years
- Valid BLS Cert
- Valid RN
Duties Description
The New York State Senate is looking to hire a Registered Nurse to work in the Legislative Health Service. The Legislative Health Service provides care to legislators, all legislative employees, legislative correspondents, and anyone visiting the legislature who is in need of medical attention.

- Provide health assessments, including injuries and illness
- Document accurately patient’s verbal complaints, signs, symptoms, recommended treatment, and treatment provided inclusive of referral as necessary
- Use of Crisis Intervention in appropriate instances
Additional Comments
Salary range is $58,000-$65,000 year, commensurate with experience and education.
