Responsibilities:
- Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries
- Perform initial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment plans
- Stabilize patients in critical condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Utilize medical imaging and diagnostic tools to aid in diagnosis and treatment decisions
- Administer medications, perform procedures such as suturing, and manage airways as necessary
- Provide PTSD care for patients experiencing trauma-related emergencies
- Adhere to established protocols and guidelines for emergency medicine practice
- Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly using electronic medical record systems (such as Cerner)
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Board certification
- Valid medical license in the state of practice
- Demonstrated proficiency in emergency medical procedures, including airway management and suturing
- Knowledge of relevant medical coding systems (such as ICD-9) and documentation requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced emergency department or trauma center setting is preferred
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse healthcare team
