Produce Cutter/Packager (Full-Time)

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To cut and package fruits and vegetables properly for retail display according to Company standards. To contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.

POSITION FOCUS: Emphasis in the Produce Cutter / Packager position is on meeting daily needs in properly cutting fruits and vegetables and packaging for retail display. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. The Produce Manager or person in charge provides assignments and work direction.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

• Cutting fresh fruits and vegetables
• Ensure correct handling, cutting, packaging and wrapping of product
• Rotate stock for freshness
• Remove spoiled/damaged product from display
• Mark down old product
• Straighten displays, build displays
• Handle product carefully to avoid damage
• Handle all designated pull-down items in the evening
• Assist customers with questions or requests
• Answer questions of product location/usage
• Answer department phone calls and questions in a timely and consistent manner
• Refer customers to the proper area or individual for help

Follow all store and department policies and procedures

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical

• Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Equipment operation (box cutters, knives, carts, compactor, flat bed, pallet jack)
• Reaching, standing, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, turning, walking on uneven ground

• Exposure to cold temperatures (35 to 40 degrees)
