PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To provide wrapping, stocking and customer service support for the Bakery Department. To contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
NATURE AND SCOPE: Emphasis in this position is to consistently service customers and to prepare and display product to ensure maximum sales and product availability. Primary learning challenge is product knowledge, sequence of workflow and production speed. This position requires ongoing judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills, reading, standing, walking, moderate lifting, and operation of finishing and wrapping equipment. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. The Bakery Manager or person in charge proved assignments and work direction.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

Assist customers with questions and requests
- Attend to customer needs for ordering, information and counter service
- Greet customers in the department and offer suggestive selling
- Answer department telephone calls and pages

Wrap bakery product
- Slice and bag bread and buns
- Transfer product to trays or containers
- Shrink wrap product when appropriate
- Label all wrapped product

Stock, rotate and face bakery product
- Pull stales and write down product, quantity and retail
- Prepare sales area by cleaning cases and bins
- Rotate and face product
- Stock shelves, bins and cases
- Check price and verify sign and product price

Finish bakery product
- Allow baked goods to cool and glaze or drizzle appropriate product
- Clean department and maintain conditions in the back room
- Assist in maintaining proper signage and decorations
- Perform shop back duties
- Follow all store and department policies and procedures

- Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
- Equipment operation (mixer, scraper, scales, knives, proofer, oven, timer, decorating tubes, lazy Susan, wrapping machine, racks, labeler, bread slicer, calculator, spatula, cleaning utensils, telephone)
