Seneca County Clerk of Courts Title Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Clerk-Title.
The successful candidate must be able to work with the general public.
The applicant will issue Ohio certificates of title, issue watercraft registrations, and will maintain a cash drawer that is balanced daily.
Qualifications are High School Diploma or GED. The applicant needs excellent typing and keyboarding skills, cash handling experience, general bookkeeping, knowledge of office practices/procedures, excellent phone skills, excellent communication skills, able to follow written and oral instructions, and the ability to multi-task.

QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Completion of a secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED) with course work in office practices and procedures; minimum of six (6) months of experience and/or training in an office setting; or any combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
JOB DUTIES in order of importance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
45% (1) Types and issues motor vehicle, boat, motor home, manufactured home, ATV, etc. titles; issues Watercraft registrations, proofreads titles and registrations to ensure accuracy; processes and records certified copies of titles; files processed titles daily; computes and collects sales tax, notary and other fees; notes and records liens on titles, as needed (e.g., types lien documents, cancels liens on titles, when necessary); purges files as needed; verifies accuracy of all necessary paperwork to process title, scans titles and all documentation and be able to multitask.
35% (2) Answers inquiries courteously and develops and maintains working relationships of Clerk of Courts, Chief Deputy Clerk of Court, Deputy Clerks, general public, Bureau of Motor Vehicles (“BMV”), BMV investigators, Division of Watercraft, Department of Taxation, auto dealers, financial institutions, Automated Titling Processing System (“ATPS”) Help Desk, and State and County officials and agencies; performs title inquiries, verifies serial numbers for federal, state, and local law enforcement officers, as requested; notarizes title related documents (e.g., sworn affidavits, sales tax forms); receives cash payments (i.e., makes correct change, issues receipts).
10% (3) Answers telephone courteously, responds to questions, directs calls and takes messages; prepares daily cashiering report (i.e., totals and balances cash drawer, transfers cash); compiles and processes department reports (e.g., BMV reports, Sales Tax reports, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (“ODNR”) report, dealer and bank reports, manufactured home reports, ATPS reports); proofreads reports to ensure accuracy; collects and processes incoming mail; prepares out-going mail; types other office documents; maintains office files in alphabetical, numerical, and chronological order; daily, weekly and monthly reports; deposits money at Bank; copies documents; assists with operating and maintaining office and office equipment; stamp mail in mailroom.
5% (4) Issues checks for various state departments (e.g. BMV, Department of Taxation, Department of Natural Resources); reconciles bank statements and department records; prepares and processes monthly county pay-in.
(5) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
(6) Attends meetings out-of-town, as requested; maintains and increases knowledge and skills; performs other duties and assignments, as requested.
(7) Maintains required licensures and certification, if any.
(8) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
