Public Health Nurse 2 – Full Time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Performs skilled public health nurse duties including, but not limited to, immunizations, coverage of various health clinics, and health education including Narcan distribution and harm reduction; Provides professional nursing services in the home, community, clinic, and/or school setting; Interviews and assesses clients to evaluate problems and develop a plan to provide care; Maintains knowledge of nursing techniques and methodologies; Provides excellent service to our diverse populations; Monitors status of client care; Counsels clients regarding health plans and assessments; Assists clients in applying for benefits and services; Makes necessary referrals, as required. Logs and maintains all data and information related to evaluation of clients and care provided; Develops and presents health education programs for other agencies, schools and community; Participates in the health promotion activities in the public; Obtains project and community health statistics to assess program effectiveness; Assists in disease investigations and program assessments; Observes the confidentiality of the client and the agency; Attends staff and committee meetings, outreach, vaccine clinics; Sets schedule for programs/clients, as needed; Participates in emergency preparedness exercises.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a licensed Registered Nurse pursuant to Section 4723.13 of the Ohio Administrative Code and a current CPR certification is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing with focus in community or public health nursing and health education is preferred; Understanding of office equipment, including computers, with a knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Ability to use necessary and required medical equipment; Fluency in Spanish is helpful, but not required. Must have a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and successfully complete background check at own expense prior to employment through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation as per Ohio S.B. 38.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Public Health Nurse 2 requires an employee to: Travel to off-site locations; Work a general schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., although a flexible schedule may be required, including evening, weekends, and holidays; Respond to emergency calls; Come into contact with secondhand smoke, communicable diseases, blood, bodily fluids, allergens, dusts, cleaning supplies, insects, and animals; Lift, climb, bend, twist, kneel, squat, push, roll, and support up to 55 pounds; Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

COMPENSATION:

Public Health Nurse 2- Starting at $24.84 per hour
