About The Role
Seneca Family of Agencies is hiring for an Outpatient Therapist in Oakland, CA. The Outpatient Therapists work with youth and their caregivers to provide healing-centered individual and family therapy, group therapy, and case-management services and to conduct mental health assessments. Outpatient therapists will also have the opportunity to collaborate with teachers, social workers, probation officers, psychiatrists, and other members of the youth’s care team, to ensure and celebrate the success of youth and families in their communities.
About The Pathways Counseling Center
Pathways Counseling Center at Seneca (PCCS) operates as a general out-patient mental health clinic for under-served children, youth, and families in Alameda County. PCCS provides trauma-informed mental health services designed to strengthen family relationships, promote resilience, and foster healthy emotional development and effective interpersonal skills. Our Specialty Mental Health Services include individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, parenting support, parent-child dyadic therapy, and case management services. Therapists meet with children and families in our Oakland clinic, as well as in clients’ homes, schools, and other community settings. Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, including teachers, counselors, specialists, and program leadership
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy, as well as case management for a caseload of children, adolescents, and their families
- Engage caregivers in the treatment process with regular discussions on the needs and progress of the youth and family
- Provide crisis intervention, including risk screening, assessment, triage, and service linkage
- Provide consultation and/or coaching to caregivers and other care team members around client needs and risk management rooted in a healing centered approach
- Complete required data collection and service documentation to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing
- Communicate effectively with families and all others involved in the daily life of clients, including other Seneca programs or outside agencies
- Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training
Qualifications
- Education/Experience requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, or psychology
- Registered or eligible to register with the California BBS or California Board of Psychology required
- Experience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is preferred
- Reliable transportation to and from clients’ homes and other community locations where you provide clinical services.
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
Schedule
- Monday to Friday: In order to accommodate the schedules of clients and families, therapists are expected to work until 7PM at least two days per week.
- 5 weeks of paid time off and 11 paid holidays

- Starting at $71,080 - $85,080 per year
- Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications
