Seneca Health Services is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center in wild, wonderful West Virginia. We provide responsible, accessible, and progressive behavioral health services. We have a wide range of professionals who are passionate about helping our clients through substance use or mental health treatment. With four outpatient clinics and two intensive treatment locations in Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Webster Counties, we serve a wide population. Our services include Crisis Services, Substance Use Disorder Assistance, Mental Health Services, and Intellectual Disabilities Support.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

High School Diploma or GED required. Must be 18 years of age or older.  

One year experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance abuse is preferred. 

Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.  

Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Employment Fitness Determination through WVCARES and a drug screen.  

Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills required.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Behavioral Health Technician is expected to function as a team member and assist in other areas including shift coverage, if necessary, to meet the individual needs of the clients and insure the smooth running of the Crosswinds Center program.  Employee is required to work shift work and may require the employee to work at any given time.  

PURPOSE: 

Responsible for the general well being of the Crosswinds Center client in an effort to stabilize the client’s condition following a crisis episode, including, but not limited to, providing supportive services, performing day-to-day living activities, transportation, providing protective oversight, ensuring the client’s program plans are implemented and the client attends scheduled activities.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Interacts positively with clients and models appropriate socialization and communication skills.  
  2. Performs activities that assist clients in the day-to-day living in the Center, such as meal preparation, cleaning, etc.
  3. Follows daily schedule for housekeeping, laundry, food preparation, etc.  Prepares food in accordance with nutritional and dietary requirements, and within the West Virginia Food Code.
  4. Provides protective oversight of clients.  Responsible for performing visual observation and suicide precaution checks and documents all necessary entries.
  5. Monitors all family visits with clients. Monitors phone contact for inappropriate content. 
  6. Provides transportation and accompanies clients to local appointments when appropriate and/or necessary.
  7. Assists in the admission process, including but not limited to, room preparation, meal preparation, documentation of physical/mental condition, personal belonging and body inventories.
  8. Complete referral forms accurately and thoroughly, ensuring appropriate symptomology and information is gathered during the referral process, as needed.
  9. Adhere to rules, regulations & legal requirements and document services provided in accordance with established standards; secure information by adhering to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations and Seneca privacy policies..
  10. Requests all needed supplies, monitors inventory, and completes grocery shopping according to posted menu, if needed.
  11. Attends all staff meetings, Seneca required training, workshops or seminars.  Maintains current certifications, including but not limited to CPR, First Aid, crisis de-escalation, Food Handling and Infection Control.
  12. Reports and documents any unusual events or violations of policy to the appropriate person.
  13. Represents Seneca in a positive manner including maintaining a positive attitude, performing duties in a manner in accordance with Seneca’s Code of Conduct & Ethical Standards and treats clients with dignity and respect.
  14. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment and follows guidelines outlined in Seneca’s Exposure Control Plan.
  15. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
