Landfill Gas Technician

This position reports directly to the Gas Plant Operations Supervisor and Site Manager.

The Landfill Gas Technician position is responsible for the overall operation of the Gas Collection and Control (GCCS) system at the Seneca Landfill including gas well tuning, operation, maintenance, and expansion to provide landfill gas to the on-site Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Processing Facility.

The position will be located at Seneca Landfill, 421 Hartmann Road, Evans City, PA 16033 and you will be home every night. Work hours vary, but generally they follow the daylight operating hours of the landfill, which are Monday through Friday from 7 AM through 5:30 PM. Since the RNG Processing Plant operates 24/7, this position will be part of an on-call schedule to cover emergencies with the other employees at the RNG Processing Plant.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently perform assigned responsibilities to include such duties as:

· Conducts, or assists with, environmental sampling that may include air quality and gas migration.

· Measures and records gas measurements from the landfill well field and at the landfill gas probes to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable safety regulations, as well as federal and state requirements.

· Troubleshoots and corrects landfill gas extraction systems when necessary; report more complicated issues to management to ensure timely correction.

· Installs gas extraction well pumps and performs necessary maintenance on the well pumps.

· Performs fusion welding and installation of HDPE gas header and lateral piping to gas extraction wells. Training in HDPE fusion welding will be provided.

· Completes vertical gas well installation including the PVC pipe, gravel, bentonite, and soils.

· Prepares and submits required reporting data relative to landfill gas extraction and other related systems.

· Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations that govern job performance; ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.

· Supports the RNG Processing Plant with preventative maintenance and evaluation on components of the gas processing plant. Must be strong with basic computer skills for communication, documentation, and operation of the gas wellfield and the RNG Facility.

· Respond to call-outs of facility shutdowns in a timely manner during non-business hours to troubleshoot, repair, and restart the plant back to operation.

· Performs other job-related duties as required.

Experience, Education, Certification

Required:

· Valid Driver’s License

· High school diploma or G.E.D.

· No prior work experience in landfills required.

Preferred:

· Minimum of 1 year of experience working with landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collection systems, natural gas processing facilities, natural gas well drilling, and/or natural gas well development.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience working at construction sites or maintenance facilities regulated by OSHA.

Job Requirements

· Possession of a valid PA Driver’s License and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.

· The ability to work outside during all weather conditions all year round (80% of the time) and lift at least 50 pounds.

· Required to walk over steep and rough terrain for considerable distances daily

· Ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.

· Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

Special Requirements

· Employee must adhere to all site safety rules and regulations. Employee will be asked to provide their own safety shoes.

· Employee will be asked to provide their own basic tool set and tool box for gas well maintenance.

· Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Technician A Minimum of 10 years of experience maintaining and operating a landfill gas processing plants and landfill gas extraction systems. Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability a must.

Technician B Minimum of 5 to10 years of experience maintaining and operating a landfill gas processing plants and landfill gas extraction systems.

Technician C Minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience maintaining and operating a landfill gas processing plants and landfill gas extraction systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
