What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Service Provider position at Seneca Nation Health System?
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing support services for families. Assists with case management responsibilities as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides support to parents and guardians according to program policy and procedures.
2. Observes, coaches family interactions, child development and parenting skills and reports observations to the Family Support Services (FSS) Team, generally during supervised visitation.
3. Accompanies County Child Protective Services agencies on territory while they conduct investigations of abuse and neglect of Native children.
4. Assists with implementation of service plans for individuals and families developed by Case Manager.
5. Maintains current and accurate client case files and enters required data into the Famcare system in accordance with SNHS policy standards and reporting guidelines. Ensuring accuracy, completion and proper filing of documents within the timeframe specified by department policy.
6. Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team for individuals and families in conjunction with Case Manager and FSS Team when necessary i.e. case conferences.
7. Assists with on call duties should staffing concerns necessitate.
8. Provides parenting classes or education to the community and families and effectively communicates information and knowledge to all ages.
9. Works to promote cooperative staff efforts to provide and maintain high quality services to clients and staff to assure quality client care.
10. Required to complete all trainings ie. ICWA training, Child Welfare, goal planning, child abuse.
11. Participates in educational outreach events relevant to Family Support Services. Engages with the community at events & when working with other departments.
12. Participates and completes all mandatory staff meetings, trainings and in-services.
13. Follows all policies and procedures of the department, SNHS, and Seneca Nation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
- Excellent computer skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one (1) year of experience in child welfare and parenting skills is required.
- Valid NYS driver’s license required.
- Associates degree in Human Services or related field, preferred.
