BASIC FUNCTION:
Assists the Pharmacist in a variety of support functions, which are allowable for non-professionals in providing pharmacy services. Reports directly to Supervising Pharmacist.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILTY:
- Orders drugs, as directed by the Supervising Pharmacist, from wholesaler and completes order requests for drugs from other suppliers.
- Receives and stocks drug orders and reconciles orders received with original order request and invoice, noting any differences, prepares monthly report for billing department.
- Maintains inventory of existing stock, checks for outdated and expired drugs.
- Answers the telephone, records patient request for Pharmacist response. (Note: Pharmacy technician may not accept telephone prescriptions from health care providers.)
- Requests medical records for pharmacy patients and returns to medical records office after services are provided and documentation is complete.
- Assists in filling of prescriptions, including typing of labels, counting dosage units, returning drugs to stock shelves and marking refills, as necessary and subject to appropriate checks by the Pharmacist.
- Operates within the confines of paragraph (ii) of the attached, entitled “Limitations on assistance by an unlicensed person at all times.”
- Updates insurance information on all patients.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
- Follows all policies of SNHS.
- Works to promote a cooperative staff efforts to provide and maintain high quality service to patients, physicians and other staff to assure quality patient care.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree in Arts/Science; Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) required. Obtain annual CE requirements to maintain certification. Three (3) or more years’ experience. Clerical and computer skills and medical terminology essential.
Salary : $20
