A BIM Technician's primary responsibility is to support the planning, design, and documentation of construction projects through BIM software. They collaborate with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure that the digital models accurately reflect all necessary project specifications and codes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principal duties and responsibilities of the BIM Technician consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Developing and maintaining accurate 3D models for all stages of project development.
- Producing detailed drawings from BIM models and assisting in design processes.
- Ensuring all models are compliant with industry standards and project requirements.
- Coordinating model data and integration with other team members.
- Assisting in troubleshooting and providing technical support related to BIM software.
- Creating and revising drawings and documentation using BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and other 3D modeling tools.
- Conducting clash detection tasks to identify and resolve conflicts within the BIM models.
- Participating in meetings and collaborating with the project team to discuss and resolve matters related to model accuracy and project requirements.
- Maintaining project documentation to ensure up-to-date project status and compliance.
- Creating visualizations of future buildings for client approvals and regulatory bodies.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- An associate’s degree or technical degree in a relevant field such as computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, or architecture.
- Proficiency in BIM software, particularly Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
- Understanding of construction processes, building codes, and drafting techniques.
- Certification proving proficiency in BIM software, which varies depending on proprietary or industry-specific software usage; certifications from recognized providers like Autodesk enhance a candidate’s professional credibility and job prospects.
SKILLS:
- Strong (effective) written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong skills of time management, organization and multi-tasking.
- Ability to work in design teams, self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and taking the initiative to learn the trade.
- Strong computer skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training. Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
- Ability to use design software packages, general construction knowledge, and aptitude preferred.
PHYSICAL:
- This position requires the ability to listen and hear, good eyesight, sitting, and use of hands and arms.
