Who is Senior Aerospace AMT/Damar?
We are a manufacturer of structural parts for the leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) in the large business and regional jet markets. Our experience and capabilities span multiple segments of an aircraft, including the engine pylon, struts, wing box, wings, wheel well, and the interior. What does the job involve?
The Machinist 4 sets up and operates numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate aerospace parts per engineering specifications.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve and input computerized machine control media without supervision
- Consistently creates and runs a first part that meet engineering specifications without supervision
- Able to operate a variety of machine centers
- Understands and applies optimal part holding techniques
- Accurately repairs used tooling, such as installing helicoils or keenserts in stripped holes
- Analyzes and solves problems with minimal supervision. (troubleshooting)
- Uses tools to find machine work offsets
- Recognizes machine deviation versus cutter or holding problems and adjusts accordingly to meet specifications
- Reads, understands and interprets engineering drawings
- Follows instructions on set up sheets without supervision
- Performs daily tasks without supervision
- Applies optimal cutting techniques, speeds, and feeds, and relays recommendations back to CNC programmers or Run 1 Team
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and relays discrepancies back to CNC Programmers or Run 1 Team
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools
- Meets job standard times without supervision
- Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift
- Properly uses all tools necessary to complete a set up and inspect first part to be submitted for buy-off (such as edge finders, indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
- Follows instructions and demonstrates strong attention to detail
- Communicates well verbally and in writing
- Good manual dexterity and sense of spatial relationships
What qualifications should I have?
Preferred:
- Strong skills and aptitude in math
- Ability to perform basic functions with MS Windows-based computer operating systems, such as opening and closing files
- Proven ability to consistently run good parts that meet production standards
- Minimum of 5 years on-the-job experience
