About the Role
As the Dietary Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the dietary department, including meal planning, food preparation, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance. This role is vital in ensuring that our residents receive nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to their individual dietary needs. You will work closely with other departments to support the facility's mission of providing outstanding care and service.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the food and nutrition department, ensuring efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee hiring, scheduling, and supervising of dietary staff.
- Order food and supplies using an online system, monitor inventory, and rotate stock to maintain freshness and safety.
- Maintain resident tray card systems, ensuring accurate updates for admits, discharges, and dietary changes.
- Attend daily department head meetings to collaborate on resident care and facility operations.
- Ensure cleaning schedules are posted, followed, and documented to keep the kitchen inspection-ready at all times.
- Prepare meals as needed and ensure food presentation and taste meet exceptional standards.
- Stay within budgetary guidelines while maintaining high-quality service and supplies.
- Treat residents with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism.
- Report directly to the facility administrator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; a degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field is a plus.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential required and must be maintained.
- Minimum of 1 year of managerial experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of food preparation and cooking to step in as needed.
- Proficiency in using online ordering and tray card systems.
- Strong understanding of dietary regulations, food safety, and sanitation practices in healthcare.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage staff schedules and department operations effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
