Pay:$50,000- $63,000

Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

The Medication Department Manager manages the medication process through coordination with pharmacy, supervision of medication technicians, and communication with participants and their providers. The Medication Department Manager is a facilitator, teacher and resource person. This person is responsible for the education program of the sites. This includes assessing needs, planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the staff development program(s). The Medication Department Manager develops and conducts an education program, the focus of which is on assisting individuals to perform competently in fulfillment of the role expectations within the sites. This person is responsible for providing in-service training for all staff in accordance with Federal and State Rules and Regulations. This role is also responsible for infection control and reporting.

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing required
  • Current Practical Nurses License (L.P.N.)
  • or Registered Nurses (R.N.) License
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in working with the frail or elderly population required
  • Intravenous Venous (IV) Certification preferred.

Essentials:


  • Clinical and Operational Oversight: Responsible for both Medication Department clinical oversight and oversight of all Medication Department operations.

  • Supervision: Responsible for supervision of Medication Department staff – Medication Department Coordinator and Medication Department Technicians.

  • Medicare Part D: Responsible for extensive involvement in Medicare Part D process including Part D / CMS compliance, regular extensive auditing, and coordination with Senior Community Care Business Office Manager and Compliance Officer to meet other needs as required.

  • Financial Analysis: Responsible for monitoring of pharmacy billing on regular basis including billing invoices and PDE and FWA data. Also responsible for analysis of monthly pharmacy expenses to identify trends in prescribing patterns, changes in expenses in respect to pharmacy cycles, and identification of areas of potential savings.

  • Contracted Pharmacy Liaison: Acts as primary contact between Senior CommUnity Care and pharmacy (operations and administration). Responsible for maintaining professional, cooperative, and productive relationship between entities that ensures that the needs of Senior Community Care and its participants are being met while operating within the operational and procedural limitations/ requirements of the pharmacy.

  • IDT/Utilization: Responsible for communication between Medication Department and IDT

  • Permanent Committee Activity: Responsible for involvement and participation with required organizational committees: leadership, quality assurance, and compliance.

  • PBM/PDE Submitter Liaison: Acts as primary liaison between Senior CommUnity Care and contracted PMB/PDE submitter
