On-Call Receptionist
People Helping People has been the foundation of Senior Friendship Centers for over 50 years, and we’re growing! We are looking for a dynamic On-Call Receptionist to join our team! Senior Friendship Centers’ On-Call Receptionist will be responsible for answering and routing all phone calls, sort through daily mail and deliveries, and assist guests that approach the reception desk. This is a rewarding position that ensures all our guests, whether over the phone or in-person, are helped and feel welcome.
This is an on-call position, meaning we are looking for someone with a flexible schedule that can be called upon to cover scheduled absences with short notice at our Sarasota Senior Center, Monday – Friday, during regular business hours.
We are seeking a professional with strong organizational, verbal, and interpersonal skills who enjoys working as a team and is self-motivated. Must excel at providing exceptional customer service both internally and externally.

Older adults throughout six counties in Southwest Florida rely on Senior Friendship Centers for help with nutrition, adult day services, social engagement, education, help in times of crisis, and so much more. Essential Functions:
Operational:
- Assist at reception area daily; including answering phones and routing calls through the switchboard to the appropriate departments.
- Assist participants with general questions, information, and activity details.
- Receive, sort, and direct mail and packages/deliveries to appropriate locations.
- Maintains office supplies; place orders and maintain storage room organization.
- Maintains the “Resources” information wall area, including updating information lists.
Organizational:
- Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.
- Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
- Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization’s safety and incident policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and two years of office experience are required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, ability, and skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and methods, including office record keeping and reporting.
- Intermediate computer skills are required, including experience with Microsoft Office suite. Must have experience with Outlook calendars, Excel, and Publisher.
- Ability to quickly learn the applications, technology, and equipment used in the center; including but not limited to digital music, tablets, and smart devices.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting, working on a computer, and standing.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
- Must be able to independently access various departments of a given location.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
