Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in a healthcare setting. This role is crucial in ensuring that individuals receive the care and assistance they need to maintain their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in various medical environments, including but not limited to PICU, Level II Trauma Centers, and inpatient care.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor patient health by observing and reporting changes in condition or behavior.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Help with mobility and physical exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, ensuring adherence to hygiene standards.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
- Support patients in medical-surgical settings, geriatrics, OR, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine as needed.
Skills
- Strong understanding of patient care principles in various medical settings including PICU and Level II Trauma Centers.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as inpatient care facilities.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology related to geriatrics, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to follow instructions from healthcare professionals while demonstrating initiative in patient support.
- Experience or willingness to learn about the specific needs of patients in teaching hospitals.
