The Memory Care Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the memory care unit within a senior living community. This role involves providing leadership and direction to ensure the highest quality of care for residents living with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory-related conditions. The Memory Care Director works closely with staff, families, and other departments to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership and Staff Management :
Supervise, train, and mentor the memory care staff, ensuring they adhere to best practices in memory care.
- Develop staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and effective resident care.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Lead team meetings to discuss resident needs, care updates, and operational issues.
- Foster a compassionate, team-oriented environment.
Resident Care Oversight :
Ensure the development and implementation of individualized care plans for each resident, in collaboration with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Program Development :
Create and manage therapeutic programs that promote cognitive function, socialization, and physical well-being for residents.
Compliance and Documentation :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident care, including assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
Family Support and Education :
Act as a liaison between families and the care team, providing updates and addressing questions or concerns.
Operational Management :
Manage the daily operations of the memory care unit, ensuring smooth functioning and resident satisfaction.
Qualifications :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, healthcare administration, or related field (preferred).
Skills and Abilities :
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with residents, families, and staff in a compassionate and professional manner.
