Position Overview : The Executive Chef in a Senior Living community is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service operations, including menu creation, food preparation, and the management of kitchen staff. This position ensures that meals are nutritious, delicious, and served in a safe, efficient, and appealing manner, all while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with health regulations. The Executive Chef will work closely with residents, families, and staff to create a positive dining experience that aligns with the dietary needs and preferences of senior residents.
Key Responsibilities :
Menu Planning & Development :
Develop nutritious, well-balanced menus that cater to residents' dietary restrictions, preferences, and cultural needs (e.g., low-sodium, low-sugar, vegetarian, etc.).
- Collaborate with dietitians and other health professionals to ensure meals meet all required nutritional guidelines.
- Plan seasonal menus and ensure variety to keep meals interesting and enjoyable for residents.
Food Preparation & Cooking :
Oversee and participate in daily meal preparation, ensuring all food is cooked to perfection and served at optimal temperatures.
Staff Management :
Hire, train, and supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, dishwashers, and other culinary employees.
Health & Safety Compliance :
Ensure the kitchen adheres to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations (including food storage and handling practices).
Budget & Inventory Management :
Manage food and supply inventory, including ordering and tracking deliveries.
Resident & Family Interaction :
Engage with residents and their families to ensure satisfaction with meals and address any dietary concerns or requests.
Quality Assurance :
Regularly assess food quality and presentation and implement improvements as necessary.
Qualifications :
Strong knowledge of dietary needs for seniors and ability to prepare specialized meals.
