The Cypress is recruiting for a hospitality focused Cook to join our team in a full-time, temporary role! This temporary position is 40 hours a week, schedule includes nights, weekends and holidays, and the assignment is approximately 3-5 months. This position is responsible for full-scope, hands on production cooking in the Community Culinary Services Department and is responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times. This is your opportunity to learn from our award-winning Executive Chef, no late night's - we're finished by 8pm, uniforms supplied at no cost, earn time and a half on designated Cypress holidays, and more!

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Cook
- Ability to work all stations in the kitchen.
- Efficiently runs assigned station during the shift, follow all specs, and stock food as needed.
- Maintains the quality of food and plate presentation.
- Prepares all soups, stocks, sauces; boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
- Prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
- Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
- SERVSafe Certification preferred.
- Experience in hospital or senior living preferred.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
- A minimum of three years' experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution.
- Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
