Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Accountant
General Description: Under the Finance Director’s supervision, performs accounting duties including
checking journal entries and deposits before entry into the General Ledger, the preparation of journal
entries and reports, and maintenance of the fixed asset inventory.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time position which is 35 hours/week, generally between the hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm. SRI
compensation schedule 18. Reports to the Director of Finance and Operations.
Specific Duties:
1. Maintains the fixed asset inventory.
2. Checks invoices, reports and logs to be submitted to auditors.
3. Prepares year-end financial statements as assigned.
4. Prepares and files assigned financial reports to funding and other sources including grants.
5. Checks coding on all journal entries and deposits before entry into the General Ledger.
6. Checks monthly bank reconciliations.
7. Runs monthly financial statements for directors and checks for accuracy and makes corrections
as necessary.
8. Checks yearly financial statements for accuracy.
9. Checks payroll returns, and other monthly and quarterly reports as assigned.
10. Assist external audit firm with agency annual audit.
11. Prepares assigned journal entries.
12. Assist with completion of annual audit from external auditors.
13. Checks semi-monthly payroll reports for accuracy and reasonableness.
14. Assists with general maintenance of accounting files and records.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of 25 hours in Accounting and
experience with computerized spreadsheet and Accounting applications. Prior accounting experience is
required with at least 3 years of related experience preferred.
