As a Medication Technician (Med Tech), you will play a vital role in assisting our residents with their medication needs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Administer medications or assist residents with their medications according to physician orders, company policies, and regulations.
- Document the administration, effectiveness, and any noted adverse actions or side effects of medication in accordance with established policies and procedures, standards of practice, and applicable regulations.
- Observe, record, and report symptoms and conditions of residents that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions, and medication side effects.
- Promote and adhere to resident rights during medication administration.
- Ensure the proper storage and security of medications, including narcotics, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and state/federal guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized medication cart/supply area.
- Collaborate with the Director of Wellness on Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
- Obtain and document resident vital signs as indicated.
- Demonstrate awareness of proper infection control practices.
- Notify supervisors of changes in resident status or condition.
Requirements:
- You must meet all state health, licensure/certification, and background requirements.
- Educational Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent plus completion of any additional education required by the state of practice (such as Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant).
- Experience Requirements: Requires knowledge of safe medication practices, with a medication error rate of 2% or below.
- Certifications and Licenses: Must complete CPR and First Aid certifications if not current, plus any additional licensing requirements in state(s) of practice.
