GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This role provides leadership, guidance, and support to the Options Counseling team through training, mentoring, performance evaluations, and problem resolution. The Supervisor ensures that team members are equipped to deliver high-quality community-based support and services for older adults and caregivers throughout Southeastern Virginia. This position reports directly to the In-Home Services Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership & Support: Supervise and support the Options Counseling team, offering hands-on training, mentoring, and performance evaluations. Address team challenges and escalate complex issues to the Manager when necessary.
- Client & Case Management: Oversee office reception (if applicable), triage client cases, and direct individuals to the most suitable multi-agency resources based on eligibility and needs. Provide direct support to clients and caregivers, managing a small caseload and resolving client concerns efficiently.
- Team Collaboration & Communication: Lead team meetings, document and disseminate key information, and facilitate communication within and between departments to promote efficient operations.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct case reviews, client surveys, and quality management activities to ensure compliance with regulations and promote adherence to best practices.
- Continuity of Care: Provide case coverage during employee absences, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery and client care.
- Partnership & Collaboration: Foster relationships with external agencies and organizations, including the Departments of Human Services, medical and long-term care facilities, disability service providers, and state entities.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Compile and analyze program data to generate reports and insights, providing leadership with actionable information.
- Program & Budget Development: Contribute to program development, strategic planning, and budget creation. Assist with budget oversight to ensure financial efficiency.
- Advocacy & Outreach: Represent the Agency to advocate for necessary resources and raise awareness of services available to older adults and caregivers.
- Professional Development: Participate in required continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to support team and organizational goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough understanding of quality improvement, and community-based services.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, web-based software programs as needed for program(s), computer usage, and excellent written/oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of wide variety of community resources and entitlement programs.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Skilled in supervisory techniques, including performance management, staff training, and team building.
- Ability to work independently, exercise good professional judgment, and maintain effective working relationships with clients, professionals, and the public.
- Understanding client confidentiality and HIPPA privacy rules.
- Ability to ensure compliance with regulations and service standards.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills to efficiently manage time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to empower and guide patients and caregivers through informed decision-making.
- Experience in staff supervision, including performance evaluation, training, and team development.
- Adaptability and confidence in professional judgment.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain trusting professional relationships.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is based in our office five days each week to foster team collaboration and firsthand engagement; however, we value flexibility and understand the need for remote work under certain circumstances. Therefore, we offer the option to work remotely when necessary to
accommodate the work that is to be accomplished.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community-based programs and services.
- Experience in working with marginalized and/or communities with the greatest social and economic needs.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in social work or a related field.
- Experience in quality management and data analysis.
- Supervisory experience is highly preferred
Other Requirements:
- Excellent customer service and telephonic communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
