Job Description
This position must:
- Have strong motivation and the ability to work as a team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication.
- Be capable of motivating volunteers, professional staff and donors.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead a program including goal setting, evaluation, and planning.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate with key faculty and administrative professionals as well as stakeholders of the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center.
- Be able to travel regionally and nationally for the purposes of conducting field research, cultivation, and solicitation, which may include overnights and weekends.
- Be able and willing to travel utilizing standard, commercial, and/or personal modes of transportation.
- Be able to work nights and weekends, and participation in college or university programs when possible.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with experience equating to an advanced degree.
- Successful track record in fundraising
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience working in a team environment.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of leading a program including goal-setting, evaluation, and planning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Virginia Tech and related experience in education, 4-H, and extension.
- Prior fundraising experience in a university setting.
