Job Description Summary:
The registered nurse supervisor reports to the administrator and is responsible for supervising the in-home aide and the corresponding services. The registered nurse supervisor ensures quality service provision and appropriate supervision.
The registered nurse supervisor is responsible for working with other disciplines to ensure client needs are met, which includes, but is not limited to, the assessment process, the creation and maintenance of the plan of care, the coordination of services, and the supervisory process.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Wear identification badge at all times;
- Provides excellent customer service skills and ability to deal tactfully with clients, staff, and community.
- Provides care as defined within the scope of nursing practice and the regulated acts.
- If directed by the administrator, makes the initial evaluation visit and regularly re-evaluates the client’s needs.
- Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions, keeping the administrator updated on the revisions.
- Verifies competencies of employees upon hire
- Supervises in-home caregivers every 90 days
- Completes client record reviews every 90 days
- Prepares progress notes and summary of care documentation using [Agency Name]'s system for documenting visits and care; adheres to documentation standards as per written policy.
- Informs the administrator, physician, and other relevant personnel of changes in the client’s condition and needs.
- Counsels the client and family in meeting client needs.
- Assists in the development of agency goals.
- Implements and ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- Assists the administrator with assessing the competency of caregiver staff to promote quality, continuity, and safety of client care.
- Supervises, educates, and coaches other personnel as directed by the administrator.
- Provide information to be used for statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
- Ensures proper maintenance of records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensures compliance of accepted standards of practice both for themselves and subordinates.
- Identifies and participates in agency performance improvement activities.
- Stays informed of changes in the field of home care and overall healthcare to share with appropriate personnel.
- Promotes home care referrals in the healthcare community.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor degree in Nursing from a state-approved or accredited program;
- Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing;
- Has worked for a Home Care Agency in the Past (VERY HELPFUL)
- Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience or home care experience, preferred;
- Minimum of one (1) year supervising experience, preferred;
- Case management skills, preferred;
- Policy development, preferred;
- Ability to travel on a daily basis;
- Ability to work weekdays & weekends,
- Ability to be contacted as needed relating to supervisory responsibilities;
- Must consent to and pass criminal history background check;
- Must have a baseline and annual TB test on record with [Agency Name];
- Must have a Free from Communicable Disease form on record with [ Agency Name].
Job Limitations:
Though the registered nurse supervisor is qualified to provide nursing services, this position does not provide nursing services which are considered to be beyond the permitted scope of services of the agency’s license.
Working Conditions:
Contact with clients in their living environment. May be required to respond in an emergency situation. Travel required. Position includes tasks that have a medium risk of exposure to blood and other potentially infectious material (OPIM) such as body fluids/tissues.
Personal Protective Equipment:
May include gloves, mask, eye protection, CPR shield, and disposable outer covering.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pound
