Job Description
Field Service Engineer - Houston, Texas
Sensia Global, a Rockwell Automation and Schlumberger Joint Venture company is currently recruiting for talented Field Service Engineers. Working with the leaders in Automation Technology and Oil and Gas Services, you will have the opportunity to flourish in a company that is the first fully integrated digital oilfield automation solutions provider.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of Oil and Gas automation systems at client sites. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, commissioning, and providing technical support for control systems in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
On-Site Commissioning:
- Execute commissioning activities for automation systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for new or modified equipment.
- Programming experience in the past five years at least, in Allen Bradley PLCs is mandatory.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful integration and startup of automation solutions.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to control systems, instrumentation, and communication networks on-site. Identify, and implement new or amended system functionality, identify operational process gaps, and take corrective actions.
- Maintain automation equipment including working with Low to Medium Voltage.
- Offshore experience is a plus.
Customer Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing technical support and addressing inquiries related to automation systems.
- Recommend and initiate modifications or replacement of equipment which fail to meet operating standards.
- Offer training to clients in the use and maintenance of delivered systems or in Rockwell Automation products and software.
- Overtime, on-call, and weekend support, as needed, which is compensated for.
System Upgrades and Modifications:
- Implement upgrades and modifications to existing automation systems based on client requirements.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and implement solutions for system improvements.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all service activities, including troubleshooting procedures, maintenance schedules, and commissioning reports.
- Provide detailed reports to the engineering team for further analysis and improvement.
- Develop and write documentation as required (validation project plans, standard operating procedures, qualification summary reports, system audits, technical reports, traceability matrix, etc.).
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working on-site.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards in all service activities.
- Ensure compliance with Sensia HSE policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in field service engineering, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
- Programming experience in the past five years at least, in Allen Bradley PLCs is mandatory.
- ControlLogix, Compact Logix, PLC 5, Studio 5000
- Knowledge of Process Control, DCS and Safety systems including Fire and Gas, Emergency Shutdown, SIS, and Process Control Systems. Knowledge of BOP systems will be a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Rockwell Automation products and solutions.
- Knowledge of communication protocols and networking in an industrial setting.
