Job Summary:
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, a Certified Primary Stroke Center, has 145 licensed beds and features the latest healthcare technologies, serving the region with the life-saving capabilities of an ultra-modern medical center. The hospital offers a full range of medical care from emergency heart catheterization to all-inclusive obstetrics care where patients are able to stay in one room. The hospital also provides advanced imaging and “smart” operating rooms. Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center has also achieved Magnet® recognition, the nation's highest honor for excellence in nursing.

Job Summary
The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments.
The Security Officer actively patrols campus and monitors activity in and around buildings and grounds and responds appropriately to routine and emergency situations. This individual performs camera surveillance, maintains department logs and records, uses computer skills for documentation of daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.
To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members, Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness.

Sentara Health is hiring a Security Officer for Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, VA. This is a Full Time position with a rotating schedule.
Job Summary:
- The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments.
- The Security Officer actively patrols campus and monitors activity in and around buildings and grounds and responds appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
- The Security Officer performs camera surveillance, maintains department logs and records, uses computer skills for documentation of daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.
- Monday through Friday, the Security staff works three shifts: 6am - 2:30pm, 2pm - 10:30pm, and 10pm - 6:30am.
- Over the weekends, there may be a 12-hour and a 4-hour shift.
- New hires are asked to be flexible to start and to move to a regular schedule.
- Schedules are set to match the two-week pay period, with most Officers working part of their 40 hours on alternate weekends.
- Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Licensure: Valid Drivers License with an acceptable driving record
- Experience: One year of security experience; Former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred; De-escalation and Physical Intervention training completed within 180 days of hire. Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) must be successfully obtained within 90 days of hire.
- The four-part assessment includes a response walk, a stair climb, a drag to safety and a lift.
- All prospective security officer candidates must pass the FFD assessment, which will be administered by the respective hiring/security leader & Employee Health prior to being offered a position.
